Ms. Chakraborty hails originally from Kolkata (Calcutta), India but has been in the United States for many years. Ms. Chakraborty is a trained classical Indian dancer, specializing in Bharatnatyam and Odissi. She has trained under different dance gurus since she was 4 years old. She has directed and choreographed numerous programs in India as well as in the United States, including invited programs in a different state. In India, she has done numerous stage shows and a few television shows. Locally, she had a dance school in Salisbury where she primarily taught classical dances with some folk and contemporary dance forms. She has performed, choreographed, directed dance shows and has conducted workshops at Salisbury University, Indian Cultural Society (ICS), The Hindu Temple, Wicomico Public Library, Salisbury Festival, and local schools.

Malini Sarma, Creative Director of the Sri Devi School of Dance will join Ms. Chakraborty and other dancers teaching classical Indian dance – no experience necessary.
