Artist featured on Locals Stage sponsored by Salisbury University and the Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University.

At the age of 4, Jonathan began violin lessons, and when he was 6, he joined the Salisbury Middle School Orchestra, then the Salisbury Youth Orchestra at 8 years old. He became Concertmaster at the age of 12.

Just in the past year, he won first place at the Little Mozart International Music Competition, second place at the London International Music Competition, second place at the Manhattan International Music Competition, third place in chamber music at the Bösendorfer Youth Music Festival, and third place at the Golden Key Music Festival.

Jonathan has performed on stage at Salisbury University, Music School of Delaware, Peabody Institute, 2022 National Folk Festival, and most recently Carnegie Hall in New York City. Jonathan is the youngest violinist in the Peabody Youth Orchestra.

Jonathan will be accompanied on stage at the Maryland Folk Festival by Daniel Minchala.

Daniel Minchala is from Ecuador, where he studied music education at the University of Cuenca. He is the founder and artist director of Viroum, a vocal quartet, as well as a founding member, artist director and arranger of Mariachi Sol de America of Cuenca city for 17 years. Daniel has also been the artist director and arranger of Mariachi Monterrey in Cuenca city, founder and conductor of Sacra Evocare vocal chorus, and a musician in the Orquesta Sinfonica de la Universidad de Cuenca.
