Kate Spanos Irish Dance presents a variety of Irish dance styles, including traditional and modern step dance, sean nós (old style) dance from Connemara, céilí and set dancing, and festival style Irish dance from the north of Ireland. Performing at festivals and cultural events throughout Maryland and the DC region, Kate Spanos Irish Dance promotes the great breadth and depth of Irish dance. Kate Spanos, Ph.D., is a dancer, educator, and scholar with extensive expertise in Irish dance and experience with other global movement traditions. Kate holds a Master’s degree in Traditional Irish Dance Performance from the University of Limerick’s Irish World Academy of Music & Dance, and she earned her doctorate in Dance and Performance Studies from the University of Maryland. Kate’s blend of scholarly insight and artistic practice inspires her mission to honor cultural heritage while fostering creativity and connection through performance.
